Røros – outdoor activities and culture in a historic setting
Røros lies northeast of Oslo, approximately 35 min by plane, close to the border with Sweden. Røros was established in 1644 as a mining town. Today, some 360 years later, there is no longer mining, the whole town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserving former days of glory. The picturesque town has a special atmosphere which makes you feel at home among the 3500 inhabitants. Røros is especially charming in winter when the snow piles on top of the roofs and the surrounding mountain plateaus.
